How To Receive The CMRI.tv Internet Video Network

CMRI video streams are encoded using the Windows Media Player format.  Recent versions of other players will also play this format, but Windows Media Player is pre-installed on all Windows based personal computers at this time. If for some reason you do not have the Windows Media Player installed, it is a free download at Microsoft.com. Simply look on that website for media programs, or downloads, and follow their download instructions.

To receive our Internet broadcasts, you'll need an Internet connection that provides you with approximately 300 kbps or higher. This speed of data flow is found in DSL, Cable Modems provided by your Cable TV system operator, high speed Satellite Internet Modems, or T1 and Fractional T1 telephone company installations (typically found in office environments). Standard Dial Up telephone connections will not receive video streams.

The CMRI streams are not what are commonly called "On Demand" streams. We have chosen to follow the conventional broadcast network television approach that requires viewing at a specific time. This is consistent with our radio network approach as well, in that specific programs are broadcast at specific times. Our broadcast television schedule is online on this website. This means that if you, the viewer, click on the live video stream link at a time when we are not transmitting, your computer browser will produce an error message.

Because there are significant variables in every computer installation and Internet connection, certain issues may adversely affect your ability to receive our television transmissions. For example, if your computer is configured to use a default streaming player such as Winamp or Real Player, and that player is not properly configured to receive the Windows Media Player format, when you click on the streaming link, the program stream will not begin.

If this occurs, close that player software, and find the Windows Media Player on your desktop or start menu, and open the program. When Media Player is fully booted (it takes a minute or two), then click on File at the top left of your screen. When that menu opens, click on Open URL. That brings up a box that has a place to type in the location of the video stream. To the right of URL, type in the following

http://wms17.streamhoster.com/lv_cmri

The competition between computer program suppliers can be frustrating for the consumer. For example, if you usually listen to Christianmedianetwork.com for radio programs on your Winamp player, and have grown accustomed to that player, if you configure your Windows Media Player to receive CMRI video streams and select it as the default player for all streams (mpeg, wmv, mp3, etc) when you install or configure it, the next time you go to our radio network to listen, your computer will bring up Windows Media Player instead of Winamp.

In such a case, you can revert to the Winamp player by performing the previous instruction set with the players reversed. For instance, you would close the Windows Media Player, then open Winamp, hit the File button at the top left, then the Play URL button. Once again, you would type in the Internet address of the stream you want. Since Christianmedianetwork.com has multiple audio streams, you would need to have visited the website (http://www.christianmedianetwork.com) to get the desired stream address (a decision usually based on your Internet connection speed). For example, our better quality 24 bit audio stream is

http://160.79.128.61:8620/listen.pls

To play that audio stream in either player, simply cut and paste it into the Play URL or Open URL window found in the File menu of the individual player.

Back to the video streams on CMRI, if you experience other difficulties, the Christian Media fellowship has technical volunteers who will assist you in receiving our Internet streams. They are part of a larger fellowship of Remnant believers that come together on the Internet to help each other. If you need this assistance, simply send an email to james@cmri.tv and include your email, phone number, and the best time to contact you, and we'll get someone in touch to assist you.
